Page 5 Volume 43 Issue 2 Monarchs on the Move Thursday, September 5 6:30 p.m. Unique among butterflies, the monarch is one of the few insects which migrates south for the winter. This illustrated program includes the monarch butterfly’s life cycle and how tagging them helps scientists learn more about their amazing transcontinental migration to Mexico. Presented by Geauga Park District. “Winemaking”: Wine Tasting with Enologist Tony Carlucci Thursday, September 12 7 p.m. Registration required. Must be 21 or older. Tony will discuss the decisions of making quality wines by a wine maker from harvesting to the bottle. Four wines will be presented for a fun and educational evening. Armchair Tour of the National Parks with Arts and Culture Tuesday, September 17 6:30 p.m. Everyone knows national parks for history and natural beauty, but did you know that they also commemorate great writers, artists, and architect? Learn about sites that interpret Edgar Allen Poe, Carl Sandburg, and more. Presented by James A. Garfield National Historic Site. “Don’t Let Me Down” Author visit with Erin Hosier Thursday, September 19 6:30 p.m. Spend an evening with Burton native and author Erin Hosier, as she discusses her book “Don’t Let Me Down: A Memoir”. “Abandoned Cleveland” Author visit with Jeffrey Stroup Wednesday, October 16 6:30 p.m. Come and meet author Jeffrey Stroup and learn about his adventures while photographing abandoned areas of Cleveland. Portals in Time Tuesday, October 22 6:30 p.m. Spend an evening with local storyteller Nicholas Fischbach as he tells histories, mysteries, ghost stories, and legends of Geauga County and the state of Ohio. U.S. Passport Fair Saturday, October 26 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Geauga Clerk of Courts will provide one-stop shopping to complete necessary forms, certify, and send them for you. Photos available for $10.
